Common Issues & Solutions

App restrictions not working properly

If app restrictions aren't blocking apps as expected:

  • • Ensure Screen Time permissions are granted in Settings
  • • Check that the apps are properly selected in the restriction list
  • • Restart the focus session if changes were made
  • • Verify that the focus timer is active

Focus timer stops unexpectedly

If your focus sessions end prematurely:

  • • Check if Low Power Mode is enabled (can affect background activity)
  • • Ensure PhoneDown has background app refresh enabled
  • • Keep the app open or in recent apps during focus sessions
  • • Check for iOS updates that might affect functionality

Website blocking not effective

If websites aren't being blocked during focus time:

  • • Verify that Safari restrictions are enabled in Screen Time
  • • Check that the websites are added to the block list
  • • Ensure you're using Safari (restrictions may not apply to other browsers)
  • • Try adding both www and non-www versions of websites

Statistics not showing correctly

If your focus statistics seem incorrect:

  • • Statistics update after each completed focus session
  • • Partial sessions (manually stopped) may not count toward totals
  • • Check the date range filter in the statistics view
  • • Data is stored locally and won't sync across devices
